In our present time today, when talk about foods and beverages, it will truly catch the interest of people and might as well will give their best opinion of what to recommend and where to have it. In their long list of all-time favorite snacks and drinks, the popular milk tea will be always part of the list. It is truly evident how it is heavily consumed nowadays because of different milk tea shops that can be seen in local stores such as in food parks, malls, and even in streets. Before it became rampant, let us know how this trend started and how it eventually caught our hearts. Now, let us all take a deep sip of Milk Tea to know more about the drink that we truly love.

We should all thank a tea house in Taiwan for they innovated their tea products that later on led them to discover milk tea. In 1980s, Liu Han-Chieh came up with the idea of serving Chinese tea cold in his own tea house namely Chun Shui Tang Tea House. He made this decision after visiting Japan where he saw coffee served cold and afterwards one of his staff dropped a sweetened tapioca balls into her iced tea and drank it. From then on, people in their place loved the new combination and it outsold all other iced teas that they offer.  This became the start of the rich culture of milk tea and it is now widely spread in different places in the world and reached the Philippines as well.

Serenitea was the first one to offer Milktea here in the Philippines and was greatly followed by other businesses after milk tea became a huge name in the market. Popular milk tea brands today are Coco, Gong cha, Happy Lemon and many more. Milk tea also innovates from time to time, from ingredients to flavors and even in sizes and this is because of the dynamic taste of people wanting to create and discover new flavors that will surely satisfy their cravings. Local stores and small businesses that also exert their effort to provide us our preferred milk tea. One of them is Kimshian The House of Takoyaki and Milktea, a newly opened shop in Pateros, Manila. Despite of the growing number of businesses that offer milk tea, they still managed to provide their customers popular flavors like wintermelon, hazelnut and their best seller, okinawa. Because of the big players and even small businesses in the market, we continue to enjoy and sip our much-loved milk tea. .
